Thomas Tait Fall/Winter 2012
London Fashion Week
February, 19Thomas Tait established himself at London Fashion Week when he showcased his début collection for Spring/Summer 2011. Since then his design signature has been known as being clean, understated structure with a focus on curve-linear silhouettes. Thomas has stuck to simple colour palettes in past collections so that all focus is on those structured silhouettes. For Fall 2012, Thomas has decided to inject more colours into his garments then just the usual black and white. And while I have no complaints for his ‘typical’ colour palette, it was nice to see some colour here.
Inspiration came from work-wear, cowboys and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The result, a collection that mixes work-wear inspired pieces with the Thomas Tait finish, slightly Gothic garments with long black capes and leather to resemble a vampire slayer (aka Buffy), and a hint of colour in Thomas’s cowboy inspired looks with all denim styles complete with orange accents around collar, wrists, and buttons.
Never would I thought I’d see a designer inspired by Buffy, but London Fashion Week is full of surprises.
